DOJ TRIES TO CLOSE DOWN MIAMI BASED TAX-PREPARATION OFFICE BECAUSE THE PREPARERS ALLEGEDLY CLAIMED FALSE TAX CREDITS
The DOJ asked a Miami district court to shut down a Miami tax-preparation office. The suit asserts that Olivia Greene and Walter Jefferson prepared returns with falsely-claimed credits, including fuel tax credits, the earned-income tax credit, the work pay credit and educational credits, among others.
According to the complaint, Greene prepared returns using an alias, Olivia Mayo so that she could hide her true identity. The complaint claims that after the IRS denied Greene’s application for a PTIN she hired others to obtain them for her use.
